Coach Kelly talked with all Goalkeepers at training about CONCUSSIONS. Please see the WSYSA website at washingtonyouthsoccer.org and look under the Resources tab for information about concussions, how to recognize them, what to do, how to prevent them, links to resources. The WSYSA and PACNW SC policy for a player who has a suspected head injury is:
- A youth athlete who is suspected of sustaining a concussion must be removed from play – "when in doubt, sit them out"
- A youth athlete who has been removed from play must receive written clearance from a licensed health care provider prior to returning to play (OR PRACTICE per PACNW policy)
Keepers were told to sit out until medically cleared if they are having pain, dizziness, don't "feel right," or any other symptoms after a blow or fall resulting in jarring of the head, injury, or impact. MOST CONCUSSIONS DO NOT RESULT IN A LOSS OF CONSCIOUSNESS. Concussions can lead to permanent brain damage. It isn't worth the risk! Play safe, play smart! Go Pac!
Message from Malia Arrant, Pacific Northwest Soccer Club DOC:
* All GK training is with Kelly Bendixen.
*GK training schedule will also be posted on the Clubhouse window in case you forget when/where your training is."
"***GK training is MANDATORY, all GK’s should be at their age group sessions. If GK training and your team training are at the same time, the GK should go to the GK training (and miss part of their team training).
